League Two leaders Brentford returned to winning ways on Tuesday as an early Marcus Bean strike saw them overcome Barnet 1-0.

The result puts the Bees seven points clear of second-placed Wycombe, who slumped to a 1-0 defeat at Lincoln and are now only a point clear of Rochdale, who moved back into third with a 3-0 win over Bradford.

At the bottom, Bournemouth continued their remarkable bid for survival after starting the season on minus 17 points, moving two places and two points clear of the relegation zone with a 3-1 win at promotion-chasing Exeter.

Rotherham thumped struggling Chester 5-1 as a Reuben Reid hat-trick and goals from Michael Cummins and Drewe Broughton gave them the win after Kevin Ellison had given City the lead.

A late penalty from Simeon Jackson gave Gillingham a 1-0 win over Darlington while Aldershot and Shrewsbury drew 0-0.

Accrington Stanley beat Macclesfield 2-0 thanks to goals from Robert Williams and Andrew Procter.

Morecambe and Bury drew 0-0 while Luton won 2-0 at Notts County thanks to a goal from Chris Martin and a Tom Craddock penalty.

Jamie Guy bagged the winner as Dagenham beat Port vale 1-0.
