John Eustace has hinted he would like to stay at Derby beyond his loan spell after making his debut in the 1-1 draw at Southampton.

Eustace moved to Pride Park on Monday on loan from Watford until the end of the season and hopes to prove to Rams boss Nigel Clough he is worthy of a permanent switch.

"I enjoyed being out there and the more games I get under my belt the fitter I'll get," the midfielder told the club's official website.

He added: "I haven't been playing (for Watford) but I have been working hard in training and putting in extra sessions so I was ready for this opportunity and hopefully I can take it.

"It is early days at the moment and we have 10 tough games ahead so I'll take each game as it comes.

"But Derby is a fantastic club and who wouldn't want to extend their stay here?"
