David Beckham has expressed his gratitude to the Los Angeles Galaxy and AC Milan for allowing him to extend his stay at the San Siro and hopes to repay the Rossoneri's faith in him by firing them to Champions League qualification.

Weeks of negotiations between the clubs finally reached a conclusion last weekend with a unique 'timeshare' agreement which will see Beckham stay at Milan until the end of the season, return to the Galaxy from July to October and then rejoin the Serie A club for the rest of the campaign.

The former England captain is delighted with the arrangement and claimed: "I'm really grateful to the LA Galaxy and AC Milan for making this happen."

Beckham wrote on his official website: "I want to help Milan to reach the Champions League as a club with its history should be there every season.

"As for the LA Galaxy, we have to improve on last season and try to make the play-offs, then who knows?"

Beckham joined Milan on what was initially meant to be a short-term loan deal after Christmas with the main aim of keeping his place in the England squad.

The 33-year-old was an instant success in Italy and he hops to continue to impress in order to book his place in Fabio Capello's 2010 World Cup squad.

"One of the reasons for staying at Milan is to give me the chance to play in the 2010 World Cup," he continued. "I have to do everything I can do to be involved in that.

"Everyone knows how passionate I am about playing for my country and, if it gives me a better chance, I'll do anything possible to make that happen.

"Right now, I'm delighted at how things have turned out and I'll be giving my all to both Milan and the Galaxy over the coming year."
