Southampton strikers Bradley Wright-Phillips and David McGoldrick will not face charges of assault, the club have confirmed.

The duo were arrested after a 21-year-old Saints fan claimed he was attacked by the players following a night out last month.

A statement on the club`s official website read: "After a thorough police investigation the Crown Prosecution Service has decided not to press any charges against either Bradley Wright-Phillips or David McGoldrick, and no further action will be taken against them."

Saints boss Mark Wotte said: "I am happy for the boys to no longer have this hanging over them.

"We offered the two players our full support throughout the case and we will now continue to keep focused on our football and the challenges ahead, starting with the game against QPR."
