Mahon set for Blackpool switch

Midfielder Alan Mahon could join Blackpool on loan after receiving the green light from Burnley boss Owen Coyle.

The Seasiders want to take the Republic of Ireland star, 30, until the end of the season and he could link up with his new team-mates as early as Monday.

Coyle told the club's official website: "Blackpool made an enquiry last Thursday and I said that due to Alan being limited to first-team appearances here, he could go on loan if he wanted.

"I won't stand in his way because Alan needs to play.

"He is a terrific professional who I have so much time for and I am trying to do right by him.

"If Blackpool re-visit on Monday I would imagine something will be concluded, but nothing will happen until then."
