Essien boosts Chelsea's title hopes

Published Add your comment

Chelsea climbed back into second place in the Barclays Premier League as Michael Essien scored the only goal of the game against Manchester City.

The Ghana midfielder fired home from Frank Lampard's pass from 18 yards in the 17th minute.

Chelsea should have won by a bigger margin but a combination of poor finishing and fine goalkeeping by Shay Given kept the scoreline more than respectable for disappointing City.
