Preston goalkeeper Andy Lonergan insists in-form striker Jon Parkin will continue confounding his critics as the race for promotion intensifies.

Parkin - nicknamed 'The Beast' due to his 6ft 4in and 14 stone frame - claimed his fourth goal in as many appearances with the winner in Saturday's 2-1 win over Coventry.

And Lonergan said: "Parky doesn't care what people say about him. He's a big boy but it's not stopping him scoring or playing 90 minutes three times a week."
