They say gambling is a mug's game, yet that doesn't stop us from wasting our money on accumulators and 'RequestABets' every weekend.

Current technology makes it all too easy to transfer anything upwards of £5 into our betting accounts in a bid to win more money - and it usually ends in disappointment.

But everyone has that one friend who is incredibly lucky and seems to win every single bet.

A degree of skill is needed when it comes to predicting football scores or the first goalscorer but, by and large, it's all a matter of luck.

Unfortunately for some, they just don't have any.

Wednesday night was a good opportunity for football fans to win a few extra quid, though, when Barcelona hosted Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League last 16 second leg.

Goals were widely expected at the Camp Nou, with Barcelona needing a minimum of four to have any hope of reaching the quarter-finals.

As we know, they did just that - and then some.

Goals from Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi, Neymar (2) and Sergi Roberto saw Barcelona win 6-1 in a dramatic encounter that went right down to the wire.

However, while football fans enjoyed a lot of success from the game, one Ladbrokes customer won an extraordinary amount of money because of Barcelona's win.

In the screenshots below, the lucky punter landed a stunning 17-fold accumulator to win over £117,000 from a £51 stake.

HOW'S YOUR LUCK?

As you can see, the punter spread his bet out over the course of a week and ended up needing Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund to win their games. Incredible.

Ladbrokes, unwillingly, handed over the winnings, but some other companies weren't so compliant when it came to paying out.

We're looking at you, BetVictor.

In a quite incredible Twitter bust-up, some football fans were left furious after the betting company refused to pay out when a #PriceItUp request landed. Check out the dispute below.

BetVictor eventually agreed to pay out, but only as a 'goodwill gesture'.
