Boss Neil Warnock dismissed any chance of his Crystal Palace side making the play-offs after the 3-1 defeat by Barnsley.
Warnock has already turned his attention to improving his squad in the summer after Shefki Kuqi's goal was cancelled out by Jamal Campbell-Ryce, a Lee Hills own-goal and Michael Mifsud.
"I've felt it's been over for a number of weeks if I'm honest, we've lost crucial players and we aren't good enough," he said.
"We had our chances and you can see we've got decent players but we just haven't got a squad to cope with a number of injuries.
"I'm disappointed we're not in the play-offs, 2-0 up at Burnley last week, 1-0 up here, but it's because we're not good enough and I don't like to be not good enough.
"I don't mind if I'm good enough and we get beat when we shouldn't get beaten and it's disappointing. But the fans understand the financial situation at the club, it's crucial we get five or six Bosmans, I don't think we'll be able to pay any money out."
