Matt and Jeff Hardy are two of the biggest names in professional wrestling, and their recent departure from TNA led to burning speculation about a potential return to the WWE.
Instead, "Broken" Matt and "Brother Nero" signed with Ring of Honor, with Matt even hinting that they signed the most lucrative contracts in ROH history. Their contracts reportedly only last through the weekend of WrestleMania 33 in April, though.
That means the WWE question won't be going away any time soon for The Hardy Boyz, and "Broken" Matt's latest response to his return to the promotion they rose to stardom in may be the strangest development yet.
Hardy, speaking directly with TMZ Sports, fields a host of questions regarding his future and contract negotiations with the WWE. He never breaks stride while talking, providing one of the most bizarre interviews ever.
It's such a strange two minutes it has to be seen to fully understood and appreciated, so buckle up and enjoy the ride with "Broken" Matt:
There's a lot to take in here, but let's try and decipher what exactly is going on here, because Hardy does provide a few bits on information amid the madness.
Firstly, it sounds as if the contract situation with ROH is flexible. Having a short-term contract to hold things over while their long-term plans fall into place makes some sense.
"Currently I am able to go anywhere, but I am with the honorable ring, ROH, and I will be on pay-per-view this Friday night as myself and the nefarious brother Nero we are prepared to delete," Hardy said when asked if he's speaking with the WWE about a return.
There's just under a month until WrestleMania, which would be a golden opportunity for the WWE and Hardyz to reunite on camera once again with a huge stage, and Matt didn't rule out the possibility of that scenario playing out
"When you are dealing with Broken Matt Hardy, and the Brother Nero, and the Broken Hardyz, anything is possible. Anything," he said when asked by TMZ Sports if a WrestleMania surprise was in store.
Matt and Jeff Hardy reportedly parted ways with TNA after their contract negotiations took a turn for the worst, leaving the brothers to find a new deal elsewhere. It seems clear that Matt has held several conversations with interested promotions.
"I have had conversations with every promoter that runs every major wrestling organization across the world," Hardy said.
"I have spoke with people from McMahon's show, I have spoke with people from New Japan Wrestling, I have spoke with people in Mexico, I have spoke with people across the globe."
Hardy then closed the quick interview with a warning for his former boss,
"McMahon, if you ever try anything shady on my broken brilliance I would be the first man to DELETE you."
Despite it being one of the wackiest interviews from Hardy yet, there were some details he shared with TMZ Sports, even if he went full "Broken" the entire time,
