Referee Kevin Friend certainly had his hands full in Manchester United's recent 1-1 draw with Bournemouth. Both sides had a penalty and the Cherries were reduced to ten men as Andrew Surman was sent off late in the first half.Unfortunately, though, Friend missed the most dangerous incidents of the game, allowing Tyrone Mings and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to go unpunished.Replays showed Mings stamping on the Swede's head before the United striker retaliated moments later with a swinging elbow.Of course, two wrongs don't make a right, and the pundits were critical of both players after the game.It was the Bournemouth defender who was being most heavily slated. During Sky Sports' coverage, Jamie Carragher vented, per the Telegraph:"It's an absolute disgrace. You go back to when you’re a kid if someone stamps on your head, you’d want to get them back.""It makes you understand why Zlatan did what he did after," Thierry Henry added."If someone did it to me, unfortunately, you’re gonna try to do something back to the man. It looks like he meant it, for me."Inevitably, both Ibra and Mings have been punished in retrospect by the FA. The referee may not have had the benefit of video footage, but they were never going to get away with their actions entirely. It's not like the charismatic Ibrahimovic to keep quiet or remain humble, but in this case, he's done just that.Mings, on the other hand, has spoken out about his disciplinary proceedings.

An apology? Nope

It takes a brave man to risk incurring the wrath of the governing body again, though 'brave' probably isn't the best word to describe the 23-year-old after his cowardly actions at Old Trafford.

"I am extremely disappointed at the FA's decision to ban me for five matches," he begins on Twitter.

"...My foot did not change course and at no point did I try and move my foot towards his head."

So, Mings is maintaining that it was an accident. Let's take another look:

If it was indeed accidental, it's strange that he didn't apologise to his opponent, whose man-bun he must have felt under his studs.

A lot of fans weren't buying his excuses:

While Ibra will only sit out for three games, Mings will now miss five. It's the last thing Eddie Howe needs after their poor run of form.

Did Mings deserve a longer ban than Ibrahimovic? Have your say in the comments.
