Tom Hicks insists his working relationship with Liverpool co-owner George Gillett has significantly improved since last May.

Relations between the American pair suddenly deteriorated last year as off-field problems began to dominate at Anfield. But after finally securing manager Rafael Benitez's future until 2014 and with outgoing chief executive Rick Parry to be replaced, Hicks has moved to increase stability at the club.

"George and I have been working together well since last May," he told the Daily Telegraph. "We had an issue when we got off track for various reasons and we learnt a great deal about the way things can play out in the British media."

He added: "Our biggest issue was always over [Parry], but we came to an agreement on that and now we are focused on finding the very best CEO in the world to take the club forward."
