The New England Patriots could very well trade away backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who's widely considered to be the most sought after backup QB in the NFL currently. But, it seems that Garoppolo's Instagram post stating that he was leaving the Patriots isn't the real deal, so Pats fans can take a deep breath.
Rumors have been swirling about a potential deal over the past few weeks, and as free agency heats up, they're only going to get louder. That's why when Jimmy G seemingly posted a thank you to Patriots fans on Instagram, it sent everyone into a major spiral.

In the post, Garoppolo said - "So grateful for my time in New England. Peace out Boston."
Now, when this dropped, the first reaction was that Garoppolo could potentially be playing a hoax on everyone, as you can see below.
While the excitement was a whole lot of fun for NFL fans all over, Garoppolo's agent made sure to clear things up just a bit after, per Tom Pelissero of USA TODAY Sports.
So, it was indeed a hack job it seems on his Instagram account, but for a few hours, the entire NFL was losing their minds. Partially due to the fact that it seemed as though Garoppolo had been traded, but equally as interesting was the part where no one actually knew where he was going. Overall, it was a few pretty exciting hours for the NFL, but it didn't last incredibly long.
Unfortunately for all the Pats fans who are relieved currently, you certainly aren't out of the woods yet. There are plenty of quarterback-needy teams out there, and Garoppolo's upside, paired with the fact that he's only 25 years old is going to make him a hot commodity.
Through his three seasons in the NFL, the Patriots backup quarterback has completed 67 percent of his passes with five touchdowns and no interceptions. Even though he's likely to remain a backup and could even wind up leaving the Patriots in free agency, there's reason to believe the team won't trade the quarterback unless they get an offer that truly blows them away.
Free agency is just underway and with the NFL draft still around the corner, there will certainly be a few teams who need to bolster their lineup at quarterback, which is when the real push for Garoppolo will begin.
