It was Juventus versus AC Milan in Serie A tonight and apart from an interesting spectacle at the top end of the Italian top-flight table, there was an intriging face-off between two great goalkeepers at two totally different stages in their careers.

In goal for the Serie A champions is Gianluigi Buffon, the 39-year-old 167-time Italian international who has been there and done it all.

He is, arguably, Italy's greatest goalkeeper of all-time and certainly in the conversation for greatest ever - period.

Then there is the 18-year-old Gianluigi Donnarumma. He was 16 when he made his debut for the red half of Milan, he is making his 62nd appearance tonight and already has two full Italian caps.

Juventus took the lead at the Juventus Stadium (we know, original name) when Mehdi Benatia stole in round the back of the Milan defence to make it 1-0 and leave Donnarumma with little chance.

Still, the teenager has featured in all of the club's 27 Serie A games prior to tonight and he has only conceded 30 goals. Pretty impressive considering the club are sat seventh in the table.

Carlos Bacca would draw Milan level in the 43rd minute with a smart finish off an assist from former Everton man Gerard Deulofeu.

A point for Milan away at the champions-elect - who are eight points clear of Roma at the top - was always going to be a fantastic result, but they needed a world-class save from their young 'keeper to help them get it.

First of all, he made a point-blank save after Juventus managed to get down the right-hand side of the Milan defence. The striker ought to have scored, but the 6'6" 'keeper reacted magnificently from six yards.

Then, he produced a double save of the highest quality to once again frustrate the Old Lady.

Unfortunately, a 97th minute Paolo Dybala penalty would break his and Milan hearts and prevent them from leaving Turin with a point.

Naturally, though, Twitter has been lauding the Italian following his incredible performance. Take a look at the best tweets below.
