Throughout the course of WWE history, many legends have come face to face with one another in the middle of the ring, and some of those occasions happen on the grandest stage of them all, WrestleMania.
John Cena faced The Rock at WrestleMania XXVIII and 29, The Great One faced Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania XV, 2000, and X-Seven, and The People's Champion has also gone one-on-one with Hulk Hogan too at WrestleMania X8. Let's not forget about the great clashes between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels at The Showcase of the Immortals as well.
Yet, a surprising fact is that Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold never faced one another at WrestleMania. In fact, they only shared the ring with one another for a match on one occasion, which occurred 15 years ago today.

It was just after the Invasion angle had finished and during his last feuds with the WWE before retirement, The Texas Rattlesnake was involved in a three-on-two handicap match with The Rock against The nWo (Hogan, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall) in the main event of an episode of Monday Night Raw.
Stone Cold and The Great One would lose to The nWo, but this would turn out to be the only time Hogan and Austin would face each other inside a WWE ring. However, it wasn't always supposed to be this way.

Why Austin vs Hogan at WrestleMania X8 never happened
In case you didn't know, it was supposed to be Stone Cold that would face The Hulkster at WrestleMania X8, and not The Rock. However, after it was reported that both superstars were unhappy about the prospect of losing to the other.
The Texas Rattlesnake said this about the match on an episode of Jim Ross' podcast back in 2014, according to WWE.com: "I guarantee you, if my head had been at a little different place, then by all rights, a [match] should have happened.
"Physically and mentally where I was at, I could go. I think Hogan probably would have been a step or two behind that. That wasn't acceptable to me, and I didn't want to slow myself down. I say that with all due respect to Hulk Hogan, because he had a hellacious run. That was my thought process back in the day. I didn't think we could deliver"
So instead, The Rock faced and won against Hogan, while Stone Cold defeated Scott Hall, but to this day, the main event on Monday Night Raw 15 years ago today is the only time which Stone Cold and Hogan have faced each other in a WWE ring.
