Although there’s a general sense of eagerness and excitement heading into WrestleMania 33, you can’t help but feel a little underwhelmed.

Other than the injuries potentially keeping stars like Finn Balor and Seth Rollins out, the majority of fans aren’t happy at the prospect of Roman Reigns defeating – and potentially retiring – The Undertaker on April 2.

However, the biggest disappointment so far comes in the form of the rumoured main event with Goldberg’s Universal Championship defence against Brock Lesnar expected to close out the show.

While many want Bray Wyatt to main event the Grandest Stage of Them All in Orlando against Randy Orton, it sounds like WWE have made their mind up, so it’s probably something we have to come to terms with now.

While we’re focusing on this WrestleMania, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is looking at the event next year which returns to New Orleans, and he has a rather controversial suggestion for the main event.

Speculation over the past few months has suggested that The Beast Incarnate will dethrone Goldberg in a little over two weeks, and his first feud following the event could be against Reigns.

The last time we saw them in a singles feud was at WrestleMania 31 when Rollins hijacked the main event and left as the WWE Champion, but JR believes Lesnar and Reigns should main event WrestleMania 34 for the Universal Championship.

Writing on his blog, he posted: “What would you think about Brock Lesnar defending the Universal Title against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania in NOLA in 2018?

“That seems to be the direction. I like it as it would give Lesnar a one-year run as champ, which would also necessitate Lesnar working a few more dates on his last year of his current contract. Seems logical to me.

“Lesnar could defend the title monthly, if required, quite easily on an enhanced albeit manageable schedule.”

An entire year is a huge commitment to make as plenty of obstacles could crop up in the way, but it would certainly bring back the dominating aura Lesnar has lost over the past year.

However, it’s unclear how fans would welcome another eventual clash between the pair, especially in another main event slot.

His latest comments do seem contradictory, though, as JR also suggested that Samoa Joe should be the one that dethrones Lesnar towards SummerSlam to create a dominating new main event star.
