Coppell backs Royals for top two

Reading boss Steve Coppell is backing his side to have enough quality to win promotion.

The Royals are still in the hunt for automatic promotion despite an inconsistent run of form and Coppell believes that there is enough depth in the squad to maintain their push for an instant return to the Premier League.

"We have plenty of depth in the squad. We're not vulnerable and it's time to show if we're good enough," Coppell told the club's official website. "We need to handle the pressure and mount a challenge."

Reading's squad has been depleted over the last week with players away on international duty and Coppell is wary of the fitness levels of returning players.

"With an international break there are always questions about who will come back healthy and who will have played 180 minutes and travelled miles.

"We'll take a head count at the end of the week, see who is fit and prepare for another away game."
