WWE could be changing the WrestleMania 33 main event

One of the biggest talking points regarding WrestleMania 33 surrounds the main event, and which two stars will be closing out the show in Orlando on April 2.

Until now, the assumption has been that Goldberg’s Universal Championship defence against Brock Lesnar will close out the show in a little over two weeks and it’s something not many fans are excited about.

MAIN EVENT CHANGES

As expected, the main reason for that is because of the length of the match because there’s no way Goldberg and The Beast Incarnate are going to go out there and put on a technical masterclass.

In fact, right now they’d be struggling to put something together for a total of five minutes.

A lot of factors could perhaps contribute towards it, but there has been a lot of speculation that Vince McMahon has reportedly changed his mind and is no longer having the Universal title clash go on last.

This is something that’s been touched on The Dirty Sheets podcast, they first suggested that it could be changed because of the ‘fire Goldberg’ chants that were clearly heard by fans during Goldberg’s last appearance on Monday Night RAW.

However, speculation was turned up a notch when former WWE writer, Brian Maxwell Mann, hinted on his official Twitter account that Vince has actually changed his mind – and he’s known to have revealed some backstage details and potential storylines that had been discussed during his time there, so he’s bound to still have sources in the company.

Billi Bhatti of the Dirty Sheets podcast provided the two images below, with Mann suggesting that now The Undertaker’s match with Roman Reigns will be the new main event of WrestleMania 33.

He added that it’s probably not the chants that potentially changed Vince’s mind, but the fact that there’s a serious possibility of this being The Deadman’s final match of his historic career, and nothing can, or should, top that.

THE BIG DOG VS. THE PHENOM

If Vince does change his mind, then there’s no better option than The Big Dog vs. The Phenom to close out the show, especially since his matches are usually some of the best and should close out the show, but they don’t.

For example, his match with CM Punk was arguably the best of the evening at 'Mania 29, but WWE opted to have other matches go on after that.

The same can be said for WrestleMania 30; just imagine the feeling in the main event when Lesnar conquered the streak and fans left the arena in utter shock, rather than sitting through other matches - although, they went home on a happy note with Daniel Bryan's big win.

While fans may not be too excited about Reigns vs. The Undertaker, it’s safe to say that with the possibility of this being The Deadman’s final match, it deserves to main event over Goldberg and Lesnar.
