Exeter stormed into the Coca-Cola League Two automatic promotion places with a 2-1 win over Dagenham and Redbridge.

The Grecians moved second after capitalising on Rochdale's 4-0 hammering at the hands of resurgent Bournemouth.

Stuart Fleetwood (16 and 49) scored both - with Ben Strevens scoring in between for the Dags - as Exeter recorded a victory which lifted them from fifth spot.

Rochdale's capitulation on the south coast came courtesy of Brett Pitman's impressive hat-trick.

Pitman scored in the 12th, 67th and 90th minutes with Liam Feeney scoring the other. The win took Bournemouth four point clear of the bottom two.

Leaders Brentford could only draw 1-1 at Bradford to miss the chance to extend their lead.

Billy Clarke's 63rd-minute header put the Bees in front only for Peter Thorne to fire home an equaliser nearly a minute into added time.

Second-placed Bury also dropped points, drawing 1-1 at Port Vale.

James Lawrie (57) had given Vale the lead but Elliott Bennett headed Bury level 11 minutes later.
