Second-bottom Chester boosted their Coca-Cola League Two survival hopes with a 2-1 win at Notts County.

David Mannix (14) and Ryan Lowe (49) put Chester 2-0 up at Meadow Lane and though Mike Edwards (88) pulled one back, it was too late for the hosts to come back.

Gillingham and Shrewsbury remain sixth and seventh respectively after both failed to win.

The Gills suffered a 2-0 upset at home to Barnet - Paul Furlong and John O'Flynn's penalty doing the damage.

The Shrews, meanwhile, drew 1-1 at home to Grimsby. After a goalless first half Barry Conlon (55) put Grimsby ahead only for Ben Davies to equalise three minutes later.

Lincoln City beat Accrington 2-0 away from home through Scott Kerr's double.

Reuben Reid's 11th-minute strike from distance gave Rotherham a 1-0 win at Aldershot while Macclesfield and Chesterfield shared a 1-1 draw.

Darlington and Morecambe could not be separated in a stalemate in the north east.
