Despite all of the excitement from British fans heading into the UFC Fight Night 107 event on Saturday night, a number of factors contributed to it being portrayed in a slightly negative light.Ian Entwistle was pulled from the card on fight day because of weight issues, while Tom Breese was deemed unfit to compete moments before the start of the night – leaving 11 fights taking place inside of the 02 Arena in London.

However, while seven of the fights ending in decision made it seem like a boring night, the three knockouts and one submission win certainly made up for it – and they were all just as brutal as the last.

It was Marc Diakese who set the tone for the rest of the night, as a massive overhand right – after some incredibly fancy kicks – landed cleanly and send Teemu Packalen crashing to the canvas in only 30 seconds of the first round.

Although that was the only knockout on the preliminary card, there were still a number of entertaining fights, such as Joe Duffy’s victory, but it was the final three fights of the evening which had fans absolutely buzzing.

KNOCKOUT-FEST

This was supposed to be a fitting night for Britain’s Brad Pickett to retire, as he was in front of his home crowd in a catchweight clash, but even he wouldn’t have dreamt of the finish.

The fight went into the third round and One Punch was arguably ahead on the judge’s cards, but a lapse in concentration saw Marlon Vera take advantage and land an incredible head kick and follow-up punches to send the Brit into retirement.

The sad thing is, though, had Pickett lasted just one more minute, he would’ve won his final fight.

The exciting co-main event saw a welterweight battle between Gunnar Nelson and Alan Jouban as the Icelandic fighter edged closer to a UFC submission record.

Jouban was his sixth submission victim in his seventh UFC fight, and he set up his guillotine choke in beautiful fashion.

Gunni isn’t particularly known for his striking but it was on fantastic display as he wobbled Jouban with a vicious straight right hand and instead of keeping up with his strikes, he decided to take it to the ground as he locked in the guillotine choke and forced his opponent to tap.

Jimi Manuwa sent the British crowd home happy as he secured the final knockout of the evening.

A slow start to the fight was changed in an instant after he landed a brutal left hook to send Corey Anderson to the canvas in an excellent walk-off finish.
