We've all had an embarrassing crush when we were growing up, but luckily for us the chances of it being revealed publicly are slim.

The same can't be said for Jesse Lingard, though, who has just had his own wannabe teenage sweetheart exposed to the entire country by his teammate Chris Smalling. That's gotta hurt.

With the pair away on international duty with England this week, they took some time out of their preparation for the friendly with Germany to answer a few questions as part of a promotional video with sponsor Vauxhull.

The Manchester United duo are set to take on Germany on Wednesday – where they will model the new all-blue England away kit – before taking on Lithuania in a World Cup qualifier on Sunday.

But all work and no play make the England squad dull boys, so in step Vauxhull to lighten the mood with an amusing 'Mr and Mrs' style game staring the Red Devils stars.

Prior to the video being filmed, Vauxhull had been tapping up the pair's mothers looking for some embarrassing information to use against them that would reveal something funny about when they were growing up.

And they didn't disappoint as the players were made to reveal the correct answers, much to their humiliation.

Lingard asked Smalling what got him into trouble as a child, and it seems the big defender was fond of a prank phone call, while the winger apparently liked sucking a dummy until he was far too old to do so.

It was all going so well until Smalling asked his teammate who his teenage crush was, a question that produced quite the reaction from the goalscorer.

He was given the choice between Tiffany from Eastenders, Fiz from Coronation Street or Dawn from Hollyoaks.

Lingard chose Dawn from Hollyoaks in order to try and spare his blushes, but the correct answer was apparently Fiz from Corrie.

Wow, Jesse, mate, what happened there?

But Lingard's attempt to cover up his embarrassing crush handed victory to his club mate, who answered one more question correctly afterwards.

We can only imagine that pictures of Fiz will now be plastered all over Jesse's locker back at Man United's Carrington training complex upon his return from international duty, whether he wants them or not.
