Calves cause Cho woe

Wigan's recent recruit Cho Won-hee has been ruled out for the rest of the season after tearing both calf muscles while on international duty with South Korea.

The 25-year-old midfielder was kicked during his country's friendly with Iraq on March 28 and then apparently aggravated the problem by also playing the World Cup qualifier against North Korea four days later.

Cho signed for the Latics as a free agent last month after his contract with Suwon Bluewings came to an end, but he is now expected to be out of action for up to eight weeks having not yet featured for the first team.

"This is very frustrating for me because I was so desperate to show the manager and the fans what I can do. But I will now have to work my hardest to get fit," Cho told Wigan's official club webiste.

Manager Steve Bruce added: "It's unfortunate for the lad because he was so willing and has shown a terrific attitude.

"But our team are working on him and we will do everything we can to get him back as soon as we can."
