Almost every single story in the mixed martial arts word today seems to revolve around Conor McGregor’s potential boxing super fight against Floyd Mayweather. That story has blown up to such an extent that it’s almost easy to overlook other big name fighters the UFC has on its roster, and despite not competing since his last outing in August 2016, Nate Diaz remains a big name.

TURNING DOWN FIGHTS?

The Stockton native was last in action at UFC 202 where he lost to the Notorious in their highly anticipated rematch after the American submitted the Irishman five months earlier.

You’d assume the company would do what they can to get Diaz back inside of the Octagon as he’s still a big draw, but nothing has come to fruition on the fighting front.

Instead, there’s been a whole lot of speculation – mostly by UFC president Dana White – that Nate, as well as his older brother Nick, are turning down fights.

It’s been rumoured that while Nick may have turned down fights with the likes of Robbie Lawler and Tyron Woodley, Nate has continued to turn down fights too, with Eddie Alvarez the biggest confirmed name.

That’s despite having been called out by Tony Ferguson already.

HITTING OUT AT DANA

White seems to have been stirring things up again, and Nate hasn’t taken too kindly to it as he’s finally snapped and posted a tweet aimed at the UFC president.

The assumption for a while has been that Nate won’t return to the Octagon unless he’s given a third crack at the current lightweight champion, as it’s not only a great way to make money for the fighters and the organisation, but it allows them to complete the trilogy.

Nate posted a screenshot of an article in which White claimed that Nate is holding out for McGregor, and Diaz just had to respond.

He tweeted: “This f****r can’t stop making s**t up about me and I haven’t been offered any fights except the one laughed at.”

Diaz accompanied his tweet with a fist emoji, as well as a middle finger emoji.

The fight he laughed at is reportedly in reference to the fight he turned down against Alvarez, but it’s clear he’s hitting out at Dana with the article he accompanied with the tweet.

In a relationship which is perhaps already a little frosty, there’s only one gif that seems to fit this whole situation.
