As we all know in the wonderful world of the WWE, decisions can be made at the drop of a hat and directions can completely change.
However, one place that usually does not happen is at WrestleMania.
The WWE meticulously plans their main event matches for the Grandaddy of them All almost a year in advance and base the rest of their pay-per-view events around building to those matches.
So when Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank contract at WrestleMania 31 and defeated Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion - as it was then - it must have been in the works for a while, right?
Apparently not. Although Rollins had been Mr. Money in the Bank for around nine months and the contract has to be cashed in within 12, it was still a shock for those in attendance at California.
According to ex-WWE writer Brian Mann on The Dirty Sheets Podcast Network, via the latest “DS 247” show, Rollins himself only found out the news two hours before it happened.
That means almost half the show had already passed by and Rollins had lost to Randy Orton.
Although Mann goes on to say that while he knew two days before the event, Rollins wasn't told until the show to preserve the secret and indeed, in case plans changed.
It certainly was a shocking, WrestleMania moment and you have to say that the WWE's methods certainly worked on this occasion.
The company have been known to re-write entire Monday Night Raw's as the show is airing and they are no strangers to calling things on the fly.
But giving a first-time champion the rub over Brock Lesnar and the heir to John Cena, Roman Reigns, is not something that you would associate with a snap decision.
