Andy Murray hasn't been in his best form since clinching the world number one spot at the end of last year.
His uncharacteristically early exits at the Australian Open and Indian Wells have overpowered his title win in Dubai.
Andre Agassi believes that Murray's athletic abilities are hampering him now, especially as he is starting to get older.
Agassi thinks that Murray is almost too good at tennis for his own good.
Murray's game is often one of grinding opponents down, as he can out-run them for hours on end with his return ability one of the strongest in the game.
Agassi believes that Murray's dominating athleticism could be employed in better, smarter ways by the Scot. Too often, Murray is drawn into unnecessary battles, and it can be argued that he should play with more aggression, especially as he is not getting any younger.
Agassi said: “Andy has skills that are rarely outmatched.
“I was never the best athlete and had to think strategically. But he has so much athleticism he has a tendency to rely on that and make matches harder than they need to be.
“If you brought down his speed, matches might get easier because he’d have more conviction to go after [opponents]."
If Murray is to add to his tally of three Grand Slam titles, then he should start to think about changing his game a little. Playing more assertively could help in the long-term, something Agassi believes Murray has already begun doing.
“He’s getting more assertive and that will help because long-term wear and tear is a factor.
“But Andy would be terribly disappointed if he didn’t win another slam or two. There’s no question he can win more."
Murray hasn't been at his best since his rise to the world number one ranking, with two early exits tarnishing a commendable title win in Dubai. With the French Open fast approaching and Wimbledon just on the horizon, Murray will be keen to find his best form again soon.
The Scot has had to pull out of the Miami Open, unfortunately, due to an elbow injury, but he will be hoping to come back stronger from this. If Murray can find his inspirational form of last year again, he could even go on to double his Grand Slam titles before the end of 2017.
Do you agree with Agassi? Is Murray's supreme athleticism holding him back from future major titles? Should he look to add more aggression to his game?
