Since Michael Bisping became the UFC middleweight champion, he certainly has had a lot to say.

He's rumoured to have a date with the legendary Georges St-Pierre in the near future and Yoel Romero is also lurking with intent.

However, the latest star he has taken aim at is another UFC legend, Vitor Belfort.

The Phenom is coming off a first-round knockout defeat to Kelvin Gastelum and that marks his third loss in a row.

At 39-years-old, it's time for the Brazilian to start winding down and with UFC 212 taking place on June 3 in Rio de Janeiro, that seems like the perfect place for the 20-year veteran to pack it in.

“It would have to be an interesting fighter, but not a top fighter,” Belfort said. “I’ve been fighting good guys before: Dan Henderson, [Chris] Weidman, Dan Henderson, Jacare, Mousasi and now Kelvin. These are all hard fights, so if you can book a smoother fight. What’s the name of that guy from WWE? CM Punk would be a good fight. CM Punk, let’s get it on. That would be a really good fight.”

CM Punk is a bit of a diverse shout by all accounts. The former WWE champion was soundly defeated in the first round by Mickey Gall at UFC 203 on his debut, but this fight could be attractive to him.

It's a legendary name who is no longer at the top of his game, and for Belfort, Punk is only one year his junior and a draw with a different market.

However, Bisping is not impressed and whilst speaking on his Believe You Me podcast, he tore into Belfort for seeking such a bout.

"This is a sign of the [expletive] that Vitor Belfort is," Bisping said. "This is the sign of a [expletive] that takes [expletive] steroids his entire career. If you take steroids, you are a [expletive] [expletive] because you’re so mentally weak that you feel that you can’t go out there and fight these people on a level playing field because you’re gonna get your ass kicked.

“If you need those advantages then you are a coward, you’re a [expletive] [expletive], and you are a cheat, and the very fact that somebody would take steroids their entire career, then get their ass kicked, then call out CM Punk, I’m not surprised,” Bisping added. “It’s as simple as that and that just speaks volumes to the character and the level of a man that Vitor Belfort is.”
