Unless he's giving an ornery critique of the media or another player, it's usually hard to get any emotion from Russell Westbrook in an interview. It's one of the tough realities of being an NBA star: You're going to have to stand there almost every day and answer the same questions over and over again. But when you're having the season Westbrook is for the Oklahoma City Thunder, it shakes things up a bit.Russ is having a special season and is averaging a triple-double, which has only been done once in league history as Oscar Robertson did it in 1961-62.Westbrook is now averaging 31.2 points, 10.5 rebounds and 10.4 assists on the season, after posting his 35th triple-double of the season on Wednesday in a 122-77 win against the Philadelphia 76ers.In the win, Westbrook had 18 points, 11 rebounds and 14 assists. He was perfect on shooting, going 6 for 6 from the field and 6 of 6 from the free-throw line. It was the first time in NBA history that a player chalked up a triple-double while not missing a shot in the game.Even Westbrook, when interviewed after the game, was impressed by that stat.

"Ahhh, that's pretty interesting," Westbrook said, smiling as teammate Jerami Grant interrupted the interview with a quick one-handed hug of the MVP candidate. "I made some easy shots, Jerami made me look good. I'm just happy I'm able to play with my teammates, they've made my job easier. I tried to take my time tonight and be focused on every single shot and every play."

The game was the latest of an assist barrage from Westbrook, who appears to making a statement with his sharing of the ball lately.

After being held to four straight games with single-digit assist totals, Russ has reached at least 10 assists in six of his last seven games, averaging 13.3 assists per game. Before this stretch, Westbrook's assist average was down to 10.03125 per game, as his 642 assists in 62 games was getting dangerously close to single-digits.

Now, with just 11 games left on the schedule, Westbrook needs just 85 more assists to assure he reaches 10.0 per game throughout the 82-game schedule. That's an average of 7.7 assists per game the rest of the way.

As for rebounds, he needs 76 more, which would be an average of 6.9 per game the rest of the way.

Those are pedestrian numbers for Westbrook, which he should be able to do quite easily.

Will it be enough to win MVP? We'll find out soon.
