We’ve seen a few footballers take part in Copa 90’s ‘5 shot challenge’ this season.

If you’re not aware of the drill, let us explain.

As the name suggests, each player has five shots - one with the left foot, one with the right foot, a control and finish, a one-on-one and, finally, a penalty.

A miss gets you zero points, you get one point if you force the goalkeeper into a save, two points if you score and three points if your goal is ‘unsaveable’.

Previous editions have seen the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Mesut Ozil and Dele Alli take part but at the top of the leaderboard is Jamie Vardy.

This week, it was the turn of Liverpool legends as they prepare for their match against Real Madrid legends this weekend.

Steve McManaman

First up was Steve McManaman who, at the age of 45, had clearly lost some of his ability.

However, despite a slow start, the former midfielder earned a respectable seven points.

Steven Gerrard

Next up was the player you’re probably here to see - Steven Gerrard. Having only just retired, Gerrard clearly hasn’t lost it.

Despite ignoring the rules and taking the first two shots with his right foot, Gerrard scored two screamers. Quite how they only scored two points - instead of the three - is baffling.

However, he scuffed his half volley, before missing his one-on-one.

But there was simply no stopping his penalty. After all, Gerrard was always reliable from 12-yards. That gave him a decent tally of eight points.

Gary McAllister

Next was Gary McAllister. At 52, McAllister can be excused for being a bit rusty. The Scot could only score a very average four points.

Alan Kennedy

The legendary Alan Kennedy was the last man to take part in the ‘5 shot challenge.’ The two-time European Cup winner might be 62, but he still has a great left foot - earning eight points.

But all four of the Liverpool legends couldn’t quite knock Vardy off the top, who scored an impressive 10 points.

Take a look:

The Liverpool legends will just hope to be in this kind of form when they take on Madrid at Anfield on Saturday.

Liverpool’s team will include the four players that took in the ‘5 shot challenge’ as well as the likes of Jamie Carragher, Luis Garcia and Robbie Fowler.
