Isaiah Thomas may be 5’9”, may have been the last pick in the 2011 NBA Draft and may be on his third NBA team in six years, but it seems like he’s found his home in Boston. This season, the diminutive point guard has been the unquestioned alpha male for the Celtics, averaging an impressive 29.0 points and 6.0 assists per game.Overcoming his massive size disadvantage, Thomas has shot 46.0 percent from the field, including 38.0 percent from three-point range. Further, he has made the most of his time at the free throw line, hitting 91.0 percent of attempts at the charity stripe.Making 7.8 free throws per game is an easy way to create tallies in the scoring column. What might be most impressive about Thomas’ All-Star campaign has been his remarkable consistency. He has had 47 games in which he recorded 25-plus points this season. That puts him close to another Celtics legend, who posted 57 such games in 1988.

Anytime your name is mentioned alongside Larry Bird in Boston, you know you’re doing something right. In the 1987-1988 season, Bird had the best season of his incredible career, averaging 29.9 points, 9.3 rebounds and 6.6 assists in 39.0 minutes per contest.

Keep in mind that Thomas has played in 66 of his team's 72 games this year. With 10 games to go, he could tie Larry Legend if he goes for 25-plus in every game to end the season.

Leading the Celtics to a 46-26 record with no clear No. 2 man to carry the load behind him, Thomas would have been a clear MVP contender in any other season. Unfortunately for him, Russell Westbrook and James Harden exist and are putting up historic numbers on a nightly basis.

However, as Celtics fans know, the team would be completely lost without Thomas and his ability to take over any game on the offensive end.

Not only is Thomas trying to make an impact for his team, but he's looking to be a revolutionary player, opening the door for all other small players around the world.

Using his game as a model, it remains to be seen whether or not more short players will come out of the woodwork.

As one of the most clutch fourth quarter players in the NBA, it remains to be seen whether or not Thomas signs a long-term deal with the Celtics. However, based on his two All-Star seasons with the team, it seems like a max deal is on the way.
