LaVar Ball’s string of polarizing comment continues to gain steam with every passing day. His son Lonzo and his UCLA Bruins take on the Kentucky Wildcats on Friday night in a highly publicised NCAA Tournament game.

Lavar’s constantly raised the expectations on his eldest son by making comparisons to NBA greats like Magic Johnson and two-time MVP Stephen Curry, but this week he raised the ante by mentioning another young ball player in LeBron James Jr.

The King did not take kindly to Ball speaking about his son’s potential in interviews while talking about NBA stars’ sons and their prospects in the league. James flatly told the outspoken parent that he should keep his son’s name out of his mouth.

It’s going to take more than a stern warning from the reigning Finals MVP to keep the self-promotion king down though. He told SiriusXM’s “Full Ride” on Wednesday that he wasn’t going to be silenced by anyone.

Ball said: “I gave an opinion on what I felt about no superstars’ kids really being superstars and the fact that they have to live up to their parents or to their fathers or whatever. I have yet to see one, and I’ve been around for 50 years.

“Have you seen one where the superstar’s son is just as good or better than him? I said a superstar. I ain’t saying just a regular player. I’m talking about a guy who we picture as an icon -- a Dr. J, an Allen Iverson, a LeBron James.”

He later added that James wasn’t going to do anything to shut him up and that he was touchy for even responding to Ball’s criticisms. The four time MVP has been largely silent when people tweak his actions in the media, but his family is where he draws the line.

UCLA’s Ball has even received some praise from the Cavaliers’ superstar in the past because of respect for the way that he plays the game. However, he will have to focus on downing a loaded Wildcats team on Friday.

If he doesn’t, the press will feast in light of all the talking that his father has done in recent weeks. The worst thing that could happen for all the members of the Ball family would be UCLA losing this weekend after all that drama.

That would be the one thing that could possible quiet LaVar Ball down a bit, but even then that might not be enough to get it done.
