Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has made some inflammatory statements during his time and, to be honest, it has become par for the course.

During a campaign to become a president of Madrid, the candidates often make wild claims of who they will sign if they are given the role and what they will achieve.

As far as Perez goes, mind, he is usually rather accurate with what he promises, no matter how outlandish it sounds at first.

Of course, Perez ushered in the Galacticos policy in the early 2000s that saw the likes of Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane, Kaka and David Beckham arrive at the club and generate huge interest.

The results haven't always equated to titles with Barcelona rising to prominence in the last decade or so and many have criticised the way that Madrid target forward players rather than a balance.

Karim Benzema is one of the big name signings that Perez has secured down the years after he prized the French international away from Lyon for €41 million back in 2009.

Despite a great goalscoring record at Real Madrid, the 29-year-old ahs often worked in the shadows to the other big money big-money signings, notably Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.

But Perez's latest comments about his No. 9 are pretty crazy by any standards.

“Karim is a mix of Zidane and Ronaldo. He is the best number nine in the world,” Perez told Radio Montecarlo. “I am convinced that he will stay and while now we do not talk about renewals, if it was up to me, I would keep him here during his whole sporting life. I am very happy with Benzema and he has exemplary behaviour.”

A mix of Zidane and Ronaldo? Sounds like the best player of all-time.
