Devin Booker is 20-years-old.Heading into Friday night’s game against the Boston Celtics with just eight players, the Phoenix Suns leaned on Booker to carry the scoring load, and boy, did he ever.On 21-of-40 shooting, Booker dropped 70 points on the Celtics in a 130-120 loss, becoming the youngest player ever to reach that number. He went 24-of-26 from the free throw line and also added eight rebounds, six assists, three steals and a block while committing five turnovers. The 20-year-old’s dominating performance in the scoring column was the highest mark since Kobe’s 81-point barrage against the Toronto Raptors in 2006.

Ironically, last year, Bryant signed a pair of his shoes for the young shooting guard and wrote, “Be legendary.”

That’s exactly what he was on Friday night.

Additionally, Booker became just the sixth player in NBA history to record 70 or more points in a single game.

And he has some darn good company on that list.

His epic output was also the highest number of points ever scored against the legendary Celtics franchise.

After the game, Brad Stevens expressed how impossible it was to stop the young guard, who was obviously in quite the zone.

There is one negative for Booker, however. His team lost. He becomes the third player ever to put up 70 and lose.

He topped Klay Thompson’s 60-point effort from back in December for the most points in a game this season. What’s perhaps most impressive is that 51 of his points came in the second half, including 28 in the fourth quarter.

To put the amazing showing into proper perspective, consider the following point.

That’s how young he is.

Coming off a rookie season in which he averaged 13.8 points in 27.7 points per game, Booker has made the most of his expanded role in his sophomore year, averaging 20.9 points in 34.7 minutes per contest.

Based on his style of play as a pure scorer with a quick release, he has drawn comparisons to Klay Thompson, who his game best resembles at this point in his young career. Like Thompson, Booker has shown that when he's locked in and in the zone, he is virtually unstoppable.

However, as seen on Friday night, Booker might put himself in a category of his own when he reaches his prime in a few years.

While the Suns are in the midst of some struggles this season, their future remains bright with Booker as the main man to build around.
