Sheffield Wednesday striker Akpo Sodje is expected to miss the remainder of the season following another injury setback.

The 29-year-old missed the final three months of last season after having ankle surgery and has made only 11 first-team appearances this time around due to knee tendon and hamstring injuries.

Owls manager Brian Laws said: "He's feeling his hamstring a bit. It's not good news. He's unlikely to be involved for the next couple of games at least."

Sodje had returned to the substitutes' bench in recent weeks and was hoping to finish the campaign with a flurry but Laws is now aiming to get him fit for next season.

"He didn't have a full pre-season last year. We don't need him at the moment. We want him to be ready for next season," he said.
