We all knew it was coming, but it was finally made official on Monday Night RAW earlier this week that Mick Foley was no longer the general manager of the show.

Storyline-wise, the actions he took against Triple H the week before probably didn’t help the situation, and Stephanie McMahon finally gave him his marching orders ahead of WrestleMania to put to bed the rumours that have been circulating for months now.

WRESTLEMANIA 33

In real life, though, Foley needs hip replacement surgery and needed to be written off television.

His surgery was actually supposed to happen many months ago, but due to not having health insurance he was unable to go ahead with it, despite fans making donations – something he urged them not to do and remained on television for a little longer.

Now that the WWE has helped him with that situation, it allows him to leave his on-screen role and begin to stir up the rumours once again that Kurt Angle will be his replacement after he’s inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame two nights before the Grandest Stage of Them All.

However, although he has been written off TV and we’ve seen plenty of emotional goodbyes, we may still see him one more time.

INTERFERENCE

According to Ring Side News, Foley could still play a key role at WrestleMania 33; per Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

He claimed: “There is a possibility that Foley does a run-in at WrestleMania because his [hip replacement] surgery isn’t before WrestleMania. So there is a possibility. But the only thing that would be is Foley would help Seth Rollins beat Triple H.”

The tension between Foley and The Game has been visible on WWE programming has been visible since the latter made his return, and he pushed Foley too far which brought out Mr. Socko as he locked in the Mandible Claw, allowing Rollins to make the save once Triple H got the upper hand.

It’s probably the best decision to go with if Rollins isn’t 100%, as it doesn’t make The Game look too weak that he wasn’t able to defeat The Architect clean when he was pretty much using one leg, if he is booked to lose.

It’s also a decent way of allowing Foley to leave on a high rather than not coming back after getting fired, as he’s played an integral role on RAW as general manager and having him exit without a small WrestleMania appearance would be unfair.
