Southampton defender Kyle Davies is returning to his native America after agreeing a four-year deal with MLS side Real Salt Lake.
The 20-year-old's Saints contract was due to expire in the summer but the south-coast club will receive some compensation for his development at their Academy.
"We were approached and we knew Kyle was coming to the end of his contract," said Saints boss Mark Wotte. "This deal meant we were able to get some compensation and he was able to sign a four-year deal and chose to move back home."
He added: "We felt Kyle was not quite ready for the first team, but we wish him well. He has a great mentality and I think the MLS will be good for him."
