When Portugal need a man to step up, Cristiano Ronaldo almost always comes up with the goods. The Euro 2016 winners came into Saturday night's match with Hungary knowing a defeat would have thrown their qualification for next year's World Cup into doubt.Prior to kick-off, Hungary sat just two points behind Portugal, who they themselves trailed Switzerland at the top of Group B by six points after four matches. There could be no margin for error from Ronaldo and co. in front of their own fans in Lisbon and they didn't disappoint. It looked an uphill task for the visitors as soon as Andre Silva broke their resistance in the 32nd minute with a strike from close range.Less than five minutes later, Silva turned provider as his lovely flick found Ronaldo in space at the edge of the box who produced a great left-footed strike past goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi. It was obvious from his celebration that the Real Madrid star was in the mood to impress. His second of the night and 70th goal at international level was further proof. As you can see in the video below, Ronaldo hit a brilliant free-kick from the left-hand side which bounced awkwardly in front of Gulacsi and into the far corner to extend the hosts' lead to 3-0.Not a bad way to bring up your 51st goal from a free-kick!His brace put the forward fourth on the list of all-time scorers for European nations. As you would expect, it attracted a pretty good reaction on Twitter. Just when there might have been a few doubts creeping in about Portugal's participation in Russia next year, last year's European Championship winners really stepped up to put their participation back in their own hands.
