For much of this season, there has been speculation at Arsenal surrounding the long-term futures of star players Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, as well as manager Arsene Wenger.

While Alexis has produced passionate displays and scored 22 times this season, Ozil has faded after a bright start to the campaign and has nine goals to his name (only five in the league).

In addition to the 10-2 aggregate humiliation against Bayern Munich, a run of four defeats in their last five Premier League games has seen the Gunners drop below Manchester United to sixth in the table.

Arsenal's poor recent form has only intensified the talk of an Ozil exit this summer, and the 28-year-old's future in north London turned out to be one of the topics covered during an in-depth Q&A with Welt on Sunday.

He discussed things like his new autobiography, his childhood, but the German international also revealed some key things about his future too when asked for his biggest ambition in football.

Ozil discusses future at Arsenal

Ozil claimed that it was his dream to win the Champions League one day, which led to the reporter for the German newspaper asking, via 101greatgoals: "With Arsenal FC?"

To which the attacking midfielder stated: "Why not? Of course, we're just having a difficult time and are not satisfied with sixth place. I am convinced, however, that we will catch up again soon. Let’s see what the future holds."

When the Welt interviewer said that English newspapers were suggesting Wenger is planning without him, Mesut replied: "And you think Wenger speaks to journalists before he tells me?

"Then I know him differently. I have contract until 2018 in London and I feel very comfortable there. We’ll talk soon and then make a decision."

It's been well documented that a two-year contract is on the table for Wenger, and, after the 3-1 loss at West Brom, the 67-year-old manager said he would announce his decision "very soon".

What else did Ozil say?

As for Ozil, he also opened up about how tough it was to be a Turkish immigrant child in Germany, admitting: "Even today I have to concentrate when I speak German."

The playmaker also claimed he only has ten to 15 real friends, he hates the slow traffic in London, and that he's never been motivated by money.

All in all, Ozil's words indicate that he is content at Arsenal, but given he craves the Champions League, only time will tell whether or not he will remain at the club and extend his current deal.
