It was a tough night for Anthony Crolla on Saturday night as he suffered his second successive defeat to WBA champion Jorge Linares in his native Manchester. What was meant to be a case of revenge turned out to just be history repeating itself as the Venezuelan puncher recorded another victory on points after the Brit took him all 12 rounds.Crolla gave another good account of himself during the bout, but overall Linares' class was just too great as he showed the world why he has proved so adept at defending his title.Linares dominated the fight, though, and never looked out of control and even managed to put Crolla on the canvas during the seventh round with a devastating uppercut. However, that didn't stop the courageous Mancurian, who got up and dusted himself off to continue fighting. But while the knockdown didn't put him out of commission, 'Million Dolla's' trainer Joe Gallagher seemed to know which way the fight was going and looked to put an early stop to proceedings before the start of the eighth round. This led to a impassioned conversation between Crolla, Gallagher and referee Howard Foster, as the fighter had to plead with his trainer not to pull him from the fight. What a lion heart! Even when his own corner looked to have lost faith in him he just wasn't going to quit. Check the video below and see for yourself.

What a legend, that's what we like to see from our boxers and fans certainly got their money's worth thanks to the 30-year-old's will to continue.

In the days following the defeat, there has since been talk of Crolla either stepping up a weight class or taking on fellow Manchester boy Terry Flanagan for the WBO title.

However, if fans want to see Crolla take on the undefeated 27-year-old there might be quite a wait as Eddie Hearn has demanded a purse of £1million for the former (via Mirror).
