On the surface, the idea of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick playing for the Cleveland Browns isn't really all that enticing for either side. But, the more you dig and consider the potential, it may actually be a great fit for both of them. Kaepernick is currently a free agent and likely won't command a massive payday, while the Browns need to find a signal caller for the immediate future.Even if the Browns were to select a quarterback early in the draft, there's the very real chance that whoever it is won't be ready to go in year one, or at least in Week 1 of the 2017 season. So, why not Kaepernick? Sure, some viewed him as a "distraction" last season, which may have something to do with it. Regardless of your opinion, the two sides should at least talk, but it doesn't seem as though it's going to happen. Now, Browns long-time Pro Bowl left tackle Joe Thomas has taken to Twitter in order to explain the reasoning for why the two sides may not work, and why the Browns (and other teams) aren't showing interest. And, his points actually make a fair amount of sense as well. Take a look at what he had to say on his official Twitter account.

For the other side of the argument? Well, Thomas seems to ignore the fact that Kaepernick has openly stated that he won't protest the national anthem next season, so there's one factor that's already out of the way. To go along with that, people seem to quickly forget that Kaep has actually had a pretty successful NFL career and nearly won a Super Bowl with the 49ers.

I'm not just talking about multiple years ago either because on a pretty terrible 49ers team in 2016, he wound up posting solid numbers of 2,241 passing yards, 468 rushing yards, 18 combined touchdowns and just four interceptions. He also had a solid, but not spectacular, 90.7 quarterback rating, which should honestly have the Browns salivating at his upside.

Giving Kaepernick a chance is likely bound to happen by some NFL teams, but who it will be remains as an unknown. The Browns may not want to have the "drama" that comes with him, but overall, he's at least seemed to step away from that spotlight a bit, which is certainly a selling point for any interested teams.

Time will tell, but Kaep doesn't seem likely to be headed to Cleveland. So, where will he land?
