While playing alongside Antoine Griezmann for club and country, Kevin Gameiro's efforts often go under the radar.

Though he's nowhere near as prolific, it's clear that the two have a good understanding on the pitch and combine frequently as both form key components of Diego Simeone's side.

And as such, they've struck up a good friendship away from the field of play, too, and Gameiro has now made an admission over Griezmann's future.

Stories linking the France international with a move to Manchester United have been circulating for a while, and rumours that the Red Devils will look to activate his release clause over the summer are only getting stronger.

Chelsea are also said to be in the mix, but whoever makes the first move will have to stump up £86million that matches said release clause in order to be able to at least speak with him.

There have been whispers that Griezmann would be open to a move to the Premier League despite his recent protestations that he is happy in the Spanish capital, as Atletico are still some way off challenging the duopoly of Real Madrid and Barcelona for the La Liga title .

And in an interview with Omnisport (via The Sun), Gameiro confessed that he's not sure he'll be linking up with his compatriot next term, though he hopes he will.

“I can’t say that [Griezmann is my best teammate ever] because I played with [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic, [David] Beckham… great players at PSG," he said.

“But Antoine is a great player and I think he can go even higher and I hope for him that he’ll do it.

“For me, it’s a pleasure to play with him. We have fun on the pitch, and you can see it every weekend.

“I hope that he won’t leave, but that’s his choice and we’ll see what happens.”

So far this season Griezmann has hit the net 22 times across all competitions, while Gameiro has scored 14.
