Even though most fans think the international break distracts us from the real football that's going on during the domestic season, we all still love it when a glamorous exhibition comes along.

This week, we're being treated to a friendly between France and Spain, who both have a whole wealth of talent at their disposal with the World Cup next year fast approaching.

This is the time for players to be pulling out all the stops on the international stage in order to ensure their seat on the plane to Russia next summer, regardless of whether there is anything at stake during the games or not.

Some countries, though, are blessed with too much talent, and would be able to field not one but two strong teams of XI if they really wanted to, and France are one of them.

According to the Daily Mail, Les Bleus have such an embarrassment of riches that their second string side would be good enough to give the first team a run for their money.

The report quotes Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger as saying: "The upcoming force in international football is France. You find top quality players in France now like you did in Brazil 20 years ago."

And judging by the names below, he may very well have a point.

The players below comprise a team that didn't make the cut for the Spain friendly. Most will surely get an opportunity to impress Didier Deschamps at some point, but it won't be this week...

GK: Steve Mandanda - Crystal Palace

The former Marseille man has endured his fair share of injuries this season and has since struggled to displace Wayne Hennessey. He'll likely never overtake Hugo Lloris as first choice for France, but he's a more than capable back up.

DF: Lucas Digne - Barcelona

Digne has been touted as one of France's brightest young players to have emerged recently, and though he has played 22 times for Barcelona this term, he is still behind Jordi Alba and Samuel Umtiti in the pecking order.

DF: Raphael Varane - Real Madrid

The centre-back would probably be in the first team if it weren't for injury, and his place in Russia will likely be assured providing he doesn't suffer another spell on the sidelines.

DF: Mamadou Sakho - Crystal Palace

Currently on loan from Liverpool, the former PSG man is in the process of rebuilding his career after a fall out with Jurgen Klopp. He has been a revelation for the Eagles since his January arrival, but it's not been deemed enough to win him a spot in the first team.

DMF: Yohan Cabaye - Crystal Palace

Who'd have though south London would be such a hotbed of French footballing talent? He was in the squad at Euro 2016, but his performances for Palace have dipped slightly and Deschamps has instead opted to explore other options.

DMF: Morgan Schneiderlin - Everton

Another player who is in the process of rebuilding his career. His time at United didn't go as expected, but a move to Merseyside has seen him make inroads to getting back to his best.

AM: Nabil Fekir - Lyon

Fekir is another player who is highly regarded both at home and in Europe. He's back this season after recovering form serious injury, and while Deschamps has already given him five caps, he's chosen to overlook him this time around.

W: Anthony Martial - Manchester United

Martial hasn't looked at his best since just missing out on winning Euro 2016. He was United's best player last term but has struggled to replicate that form having been moved out wide to accommodate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

W: Kingsley Coman - Bayern Munich

Having been tipped for greatness at Juventus, there's a sense that Coman made his switch to Bayern Munich a little hastily, as his game time has suffered due to a reported bust up in Bundesliga champions' camp.

ST: Alexandre Lacazette - Lyon

Lacazette must be wondering what he's done to be left out of this squad. Having scored 28 goals in 34 matches so far, there's little more that could be asked of him.

ST: Karim Benzema - Real Madrid

Clearly good enough to still be in the squad, but legal issues and behavioural problems have seen him excluded from the side under Didier Deschamps.

So while the formation may represent some variation of a 3-2-3-2, we can all agree that it is a fantastically talented side that would give a lot of other countries a run for their money.
