There aren’t many more characters in sport more polarising than Nick Kyrgios. The volatile Australian splits opinion like no other. Some are able to overlook his childlike antics, especially considering his talent, but for others it’s just too much. The outbursts, the racquet-throws. He is very much the opposite of Roger Federer. Some doubt the 21-year-old will achieve the heights predicted of him unless he curbs his aggression, but former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic isn’t one of those."I did a lot of crazy stuff on the court, so who am I to judge anybody? I am the king of craziness on the court. But it's good," Ivanisevic said in November, per the Sydney Morning Herald."You know, young kids always do something but the tennis is good, there is always something happening."He's a great tennis player, he's a great talent. If these things start to affect his tennis, then it's not good. But if he is competing and playing and concentrating well, it's OK.

“They ask me if Kyrgios is good for tennis. I say Kyrgios is good for tennis. He's young, he will pay for his [mistakes], he'll learn from his things, but he is good for tennis.

"He's great entertainment, he's different. He's a great tennis player and a nice kid but everyone has to learn. Everyone has to go through the process and learn from what they did.

“He is sorry, so life goes on. But he should not lose his temperament on the court, he's good and I like it."

The good, the bad and the ugly

Kyrgios is currently playing in the Miami Open in the United States. His latest match, a third-round tie against Ivo Karlovic, featured the best and the worst of the Aussie star.

Kyrgios was booed by the crowd after telling off a ball boy for a bad throw.

“How am I supposed to catch that?,” Kyrgios was heard saying, via the Independent. “It’s right at my feet!”

That wasn’t the youngster’s only furious outburst. He threw his racquet to the ground after a poor shot.

Kyrgios apologised

But Kyrgios later made it up to the ball boy by giving him a towel and saying a few words to him.

If any match summed up Kyrgios, it was that one.

He advanced to the fourth round of the tournament after beating Karlovic 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (7-2), setting up a meeting with David Goffin.
