Season over for Thatcher

Published Add your comment

Ipswich defender Ben Thatcher will miss the final two games of the season after damaging knee ligaments in the East Anglia derby win over Norwich.

Thatcher was forced off during the first half of Sunday`s 3-2 win after a typically thunderous challenge with Lee Croft and could face surgery.

Physio Matt Byard told the club`s official website: "Ben has had a partial rupture of the medial ligaments in his left knee."

He added: "He will be seeing a specialist and will obviously miss what is left of the season.

"We will see what the specialist has to say but it`s possible that he may need surgery."
