In the WWE, it probably doesn’t get much bigger than being in the main event of WrestleMania, and the assumption is that this year that honour will go to Goldberg and Brock Lesnar in their Universal Championship match.

It’s a big deal closing out the biggest event of the year, as all eyes are on you after an entire year of build-up and excitement leading to that one moment.

WRESTLEMANIA

It sounds like we’re in for a rather short main event when The Beast Incarnate challenges for the title, and the man in his corner is adamant that his client will leave as champion.

Paul Heyman can’t be matched on the microphone; when he speaks, we all sit up and listen because of the unique way he sells things. Not only that, but lots of wrestlers both past and present have spoken out about his knowledge of the product, and the advice he gives – and that’s something you’d be silly not to take.

Appearing on a recent episode of the Fight Society podcast, Heyman was looking ahead at a future WrestleMania and explained who he thinks is destined to headline the event down the line.

With a plethora of talent to choose from, he heaped praise on Charlotte Flair, claiming that not only will she main event the Grandest Stage of Them All one day, but she’s probably the greatest talents he has ever seen.

GAME CHANGER

He said: “I think the female to bring the women’s division to that prominence is Charlotte. No doubt in my mind. She is a true game changer, not just for the women’s division but for the industry in and of itself.

“When Trish Stratus and Lita broke the mould and turned up the heat on the women’s division and paved the way for this crop of athletes that have come in and truly both revolutionised and evolved the presentation of women’s wrestling. I also think Natalya does not get the credit she deserves for being at the forefront of that movement.

“But Charlotte, to me, is the prototype of where women’s wrestling is going to go.

“In the same way that anyone who was watching Strikeforce in the infancy of the women’s MMA explosion. And you saw Gina Carano followed by Cyborg followed by Miesha Tate and the global popularity of Ronda Rousey, I think it’s the same way in WWE.

“I think Trish and Lita paved the way. I think Natalya set a standard in terms of work rate. Then came in this crop from NXT, with Sasha Banks and Bayley and everyone else, but Charlotte is in a league of her own. I can’t even tell you that I think she’s one of the best women’s wrestlers I’ve ever seen in my life.

“I think she’s one of the best wrestlers I’ve seen in my life. I don’t think the global audience has come to realise her potential as a worldwide attraction yet. They will and at that time, I think she has the first female in a main event of WrestleMania.”

That’s certainly high praise, but Charlotte has proven that she’s one of the best around with consistently impressive performance both inside of the ring, and on the microphone.

Plus, who are we to argue with Paul Heyman?
