Matt Barnes has quietly had one of the most fascinating careers in NBA history.

If it's a West coast team that has had some level of controversy around it, Barnes has probably been there. In addition to playing for each of the five Pacific Division teams (three of them twice), he's also played in Orlando, Memphis and Philadelphia.

He's been an enforcer and a pest on several contending teams and should have a strong chance at his first ring this year with the Golden State Warriors.

But the 37-year-old has played with some of the best ever.

First off, here's a look at the solid players who did not make this list of Barnes' best five teammates to go to war with in his 13-year career: For guards, you have Mike Bibby, Chauncey Billups, Eric Bledsoe, Mike Conley, Baron Davis, Goran Dragic, Monta Ellis, Steve Francis, Stephon Marbury and Chris Paul.

Barnes played with some great wings, including Vince Carter, Rudy Gay, Al Harrington, Grant Hill, Andre Igoudala, Stephen Jackson, Rashard Lewis, Lamar Odom, Metta World Peace, Glen Rice, Jason Richardson, Jalen Rose, Lance Stephenson, Peja Stojakovic and Klay Thompson.

As far as big men, here are some of the greats he played alongside: Elton Brand, Andrew Bynum, DeMarcus Cousins, Marc Gasol, Pau Gasol, Draymond Green, Blake Griffin, Dwight Howard, DeAndre Jordan, Zach Randolph, Amar'e Stoudemire and Chris Webber.

But to make the starting five, you have to have won an MVP award, which is pretty remarkable.

Is there a better five out there that have all played with the same guy?

STEVE NASH

Nash and Barnes played together on the Phoenix Suns in 2008-09, starting some 40 games together on a team that missed the playoffs.

Nash would win two MVP awards in his career, playing in eight All-Star Games, and averaging 14.1 points and 8.5 assists in his 18 seasons.

STEPHEN CURRY

Curry is a first-time teammate with Barnes, who recently signed with the Warriors after getting waived by the Sacramento Kings.

In 13 games together, Barnes has been solid, averaging 5.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists for the championship favorites.

In Curry's career, the former Davidson star has won two MVP awards, an NBA title, gone to four All-Star Games, and is averaging 22.7 points and 6.8 assists in his seven years.

KOBE BRYANT

Kobe and Barnes played together for two full seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, playing in 2010-11 and 2011-12.

Barnes played about 20 minutes a game in those two years, which ended in second-round losses to Dallas and Oklahoma City.

Bryant, of course is one of the all-time best, boasting one MVP award, five championship rings, 18 All-Star appearances, and career marks of 25.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game in 20 seasons.

KEVIN DURANT

Ironically, it's Durant's injury that paved the way for them to be teammates. With Durant sidelined with a knee injury, the Warriors went with Barnes as a waiver-wire pickup instead of the original plan of inking Jose Calderon.

Durant's expected return should reduce Barnes' role to a bit player, but here's betting he finds his way into a key moment or two this playoff season.

He'll be trying to help Durant win his first title, although the former Texas Longhorn already has an MVP award, eight All-Star appearances, and a career stat sheet of 25.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists in his 10 seasons.

SHAQUILLE O'NEAL

The Big Diesel was already on the downside of his career when the former rivals met in 2008-09 as members of the Phoenix Suns.

Shaq started in all 75 games he played in that season for coach Terry Porter and Barnes started 40 times on a roster that also included Stoudemire, Nash, Leandro Barbosa, Hill, Dragic, Boris Diaw, Raja Bell and Jason Richardson.

The mix didn't work, but that was rare in Shaq's days, as he won four NBA rings, an MVP award, went to 15 All-Star Games and is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame.

In his 19 NBA seasons, Shaq averaged 23.7 points and 10.9 rebounds.

And Barnes can bounce his grandkids on his laps with countless stories of NBA legends.
