Crystal Palace captain Shaun Derry admits he would be keen to open talks over a new contract at Selhurst Park.

The combative midfielder, 31, has just over a season left on his current deal and revealed he would like to extend his stay in south-east London.

"I'm keen to extend my deal if it comes my way - but it's not for me to talk about," he told the South London Press.

"I have made my feelings known to the management on where I stand on that. If the opportunity came up in the future I would seriously think about it," he added.

"I've got another season left on my contract and I'm more than happy at Palace - it's a good club and I enjoy playing for them.

"I've got a really young family and we are feeling settled for the first time in a number of years. It would be another wrench to leave this place again."
