Nate Diaz is an interesting individual, to say the least.

The Stockton native is brash; he talks trash, he’s outspoken, he doesn’t exactly follow the rules and he backs it up inside of the Octagon with a fighting style many find entertaining.

MEETING DIAZ

You could probably say the same for his older brother, Nick, and it’s why they’re two big draws in the world of mixed martial arts – they’re just two cool guys you’d want to hang out with.

While we probably won’t be able to see that personality in the flesh, current UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has shared his hilarious story of when he first met Nate, and it sums him up perfectly.

The Count explained how there was no conversation between the pair, but Nate still managed to drop an f-bomb in their short time together.

Speaking on his Believe You Me podcast, he explained: “The first time I met Nate Diaz, I was in Denver.

"There was a UFC event there and I was in for fight week doing some stuff. I was scheduled to fight Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller, we were in Denver promoting the fight. I was in the elevator and Nick Diaz – sorry, Nate Diaz – walks in. I’m like, ‘Hey Nate, how you doing?’ and we shake hands briefly.

ELEVATOR RIDE

“No conversation. It was one of those elevator rides, there was a few other people in there so everyone is standing there, kind of looking at the ceiling or whatever, waiting for the ride to pass.

“And then the doors open. Nate gets out, and just as the doors are shutting, he leans back in and goes, ‘Oh, I forgot man. F**k Miller!’ and puts the two fingers up and walks off.

“And I just thought that was hilarious, it was great. I just thought, ‘Okay, I like this guy. He’s cool.’”

That’s exactly what you’d expect from Nate, and the incident would have likely taken place just before UFC 135 as Bisping prepared to fight Mayhem.

Bloody Elbow went on to add that the ‘F**k Miller” comment stemmed from an infamous brawl between the Diaz camp and Miller, which took place in the Strikeforce promotion in 2010 after Dan Henderson lost to Jake Shields.

Bisping’s story would have happened around a year and a half after the infamous brawl, where Mayhem stormed into the cage to ask for a rematch and that resulted in the Diaz brothers attacking him which kicked off a wild melee, which you can watch below.
