Manchester United are widely expected to dominate headlines during the summer transfer window.

Just like last summer, there’s a chance they could be involved in the biggest transfer saga of the summer.

Although Antoine Griezmann has moved to distance himself from speculation involving a move to Old Trafford, United are still widely expected to spend heavy in the summer.

Jose Mourinho knows exactly who he wants to bring to the club when the window opens. He said as much when the January window slammed shut.

“I know what I want,” the United boss told reporters, via the Daily Mail. “I always think every week the more I know my players, the more I know my team, the more I know the competition – it's a competition I know really well, but it's in permanent evolution – I know what I want.

“If you ask me if I know what I want for the next transfer window, yes I know. Is it possible to get? I'll try, always, to be realistic.

“I’m always realistic, always try to give options that are gettable. But we'll have time to speak about that in the summer.”

Mourinho knows who won't be joining

Mourinho spent more than £150 million last summer and United’s spending could reach nine figures again this time around.

The club’s fans are desperate to know who’s on Mourinho’s wish list, but one player who they shouldn’t expect to walk through the doors at Old Trafford is Neymar.

Spanish outlet Sport claimed this week that United are willing to pay Neymar’s £173m release clause to sign him from Barcelona but Mourinho quashed such reports in an interview with ESPN Brasil.

"Neymar? Impossible"

Mourinho even compared trying to sign the Brazilian would be like trying to “break into a safe”.

“I always try to be objective and pragmatic with the clubs and ask the clubs for what can be given to me. Neymar is absurd,” Mourinho said.

“A club like Barcelona cannot and will not lose Neymar.

“Although Messi is still a young player with years to go, he is already 30, and Neymar will be the great player of Barcelona after Messi.

“I think (trying to sign him is like) going to try to break into a safe, impossible.”

So even if Mourinho is interested in the 25-year-old, who was phenomenal in Barca’s 6-1 win over PSG earlier this month, he knows the Spanish giants simply won’t be willing to sell.
