Tony Bellew, still reveling in the spoils of his underdog victory over David Haye in London earlier this month, has admitted that the only thing left for him to achieve is to become a heavyweight world champion.

Very few people gave the native Liverpudlian so much as a sniff when he went toe-to-toe with Haye, with many expecting the bout to be polished off within the opening rounds.

Incredibly, however, it was Bellew who was standing arms raised in the ring 11 rounds later as he completed the biggest win of his career on a stunning night at the O2 Arena.

"I've done something that's amazing considering where my career was supposed to go," Bellew said in a recent interview.

"Everybody had me down to get destroyed in the first rounds, and now I've defeated the monster.

"These last few weeks, you'd think I'd just learnt how to box on March 4th. That's not the case I've been doing this my whole life, so I just need some time to reflect on what I've achieved."

Bellew shared a monstrous £7 million purse with Haye for their bout, a sum that has set the scouser and his family up for life, and even has him thinking that perhaps another fight might not be necessary in his career, unless of course, it is a heavyweight bout.

"I've just beaten the most dangerous heavyweight in the world outside of Anthony Joshua," Bellew added.

"He said he was going to destroy me, hospitalise me, and I took the best he had. And he couldn't take the best I had.

"The only thing left to do now is maybe win a heavyweight title, or just sail off into the sunset."

The British boxing fraternity will certainly be hoping that Bellew beats a well-worn track away from that sunset, however, as the thought of one more bout involving the destructive Liverpudlian is a tantalising prospect.

Bellew has already confirmed that negotiations are underway with Joseph Parker and Deontay Wilder regarding a heavyweight bout, but one thing that certainly won't be happening, is him facing Chris Eubank Jnr.

The two shared a spat on Twitter, but the Evertonian has since rubbished the reports claiming a fight could be in the pipeline between the two.
